Store a beer table and benches for winter: The space check
Folded measurements and a simple sketch help you find winter storage for the table and benches. Wall brackets offer one possible space solution.
After the last celebration, the set should be out of the way but easy to reach again next spring. Check the space before folding the table and benches and putting them somewhere. Include cleaning, condition, actual folded dimensions and access routes in the same plan. This shows whether a position in the garage, shed or storage room really suits your furniture and everyday winter use.

Start with the empty furniture
Clear the furniture completely. Check the tabletop, seats, undersides and folding frames. Record anything noticeable rather than rediscovering it at the next setup. Examples include a damaged surface, bent fitting or latch whose operation you cannot assess confidently. Resolve these points using the furniture documents before further use.
Clean the set in a way suited to its material and existing surface treatment. The furniture manufacturer's care instructions specify appropriate products and methods. Afterwards, plan a separate inspection before storage: are residues still visible, is cleaning complete, and does the condition meet the storage instructions? A bracket does not replace furniture care.
If you are considering treating wooden surfaces, first check suitability for the existing finish. The guide to preparing wood for linseed oil varnish helps with a substrate and workspace check. The fact that furniture contains wood does not automatically establish suitability for a particular oil.
Measure the furniture in its actual stored form
The dimensions of an assembled bench do not fully describe the space it needs in storage. Fold the frames according to the furniture instructions and measure the table and benches individually in that state. Record length, width and the greatest thickness, including projecting fittings. Distinguish between the two benches if they differ.
Write down which face will point towards the wall or floor. That keeps the measurements connected to the intended orientation. A small sketch is especially useful when the frame protrudes along only part of the underside. Do not choose bracket spacing solely from an assumed standard width.
| Furniture | Notes when folded |
|---|---|
| Table | Length, width, maximum thickness and projecting fittings |
| Bench 1 | Its own dimensions and intended orientation |
| Bench 2 | Its own dimensions; do not copy bench 1 without checking |
| Moving route | Doors, turns and handling space |
Compare the position with your winter routine
Store the cleaned furniture dry and finish drying it before putting it away. The care guidance from furniture manufacturer RUKU1952 also emphasises dry storage. Choose the area according to your own furniture's requirements. Check the actual conditions too: is there visible damp, a leaking area or another issue to clarify before storage? A convenient-looking summer position may be needed regularly in winter for bicycles, tools or access to a vehicle.
Draw the required area, using your measurements, into a sketch of the room. Check more than whether the furniture fits: doors, passages and other stored items should remain accessible. Also consider how you will take the table and benches out again. Plan handling so that you can move each piece in a controlled way; include another person in the process for bulky items.
When wall brackets fit into the plan
If wall space is available, assess a wall-mounted solution separately. The Martenbrown bracket set for beer table furniture consists of four brackets and a screw-and-plug set. It is intended for one table and two benches. The brackets are made from 5 mm solid steel and are hot-dip galvanised.
Compare your furniture dimensions with the specific bracket and establish whether the wall and fastening are suitable. Included wall plugs do not confirm suitability for every wall. Installation planning is a separate step; the guide to storing a beer table set on the wall provides relevant checks. The scene image here does not specify installation distances.
Check before storing
- Inspect the furniture and resolve care questions.
- Complete cleaning according to the furniture instructions.
- Measure the folded table and both benches separately.
- Check storage conditions and clear access routes.
- For wall storage, compare dimensions, wall and fastening separately.
- Keep your measurement sheet and furniture documents for the next setup.
Frequently asked questions
Is the assembled table length enough for planning?
No. Also record width and thickness in the folded storage position, including projecting fittings.
Is the set intended for two tables?
The documented Martenbrown version is intended for one table and two benches.
Can I copy the distances from an image?
No. Your furniture, the particular brackets and installation planning for your wall determine the arrangement.
Check the wall bracket set for beer table furniture against your measurement sheet and choose the storage position deliberately.
