The Martenbrown guide

Compare wooden live traps: dimensions and supplied items

Length alone is not enough to compare traps. Check all listed dimensions, construction and supplied items for each Martenbrown model.

100 cm, 120 cm or 150 cm: length is often the first detail you notice when comparing wooden live traps. An objective model comparison needs more than that one figure, however. Width, height, construction and listed accessories also belong on your list. A longer housing is not automatically larger in every direction.

This guide compares four Martenbrown box traps using their current product pages. The model names identify the products. An animal name or housing length is not used here to establish guaranteed suitability for a species. Trapping methods and release procedures are outside this dimension comparison.

Record length, width and height in full

Copy measurements in the order and unit shown for each product. Where a specification contains three figures, record all three first. If it is unclear which side a figure describes, or whether dimensions are exterior or interior, ask for a dimension drawing of the actual model.

Use product pictures for orientation rather than as measuring tools. Perspective, framing and viewpoint can make sizes appear different. The simplified wooden shapes in the guide image are not scale images of traps either. Your selection should use the confirmed measurements for the particular version.

Compare the pages for the 100 cm marten trap, 120 cm cat trap, 100 cm raccoon trap and fox trap with 150 cm in its product name. This table does not invent missing width or height for the fox trap.

Equal length does not mean equal overall size

The two 100 cm models show why length alone is insufficient. The marten trap lists 19 and 24 cm as its other measurements; the raccoon trap lists 27 and 27 cm. Despite the same first figure, their other measurements differ. That distinction matters directly for storage and transport planning.

The cat trap is described as 120 × 19 × 24 cm, making it longer in the first listed dimension than the marten trap. The other figures match. This gives a geometrical comparison, rather than a judgement about which model suits a particular animal or location. A ranking by length alone would mix those separate questions.

Separate housing, mechanism and inspection opening

The pages describe box traps made with coated plywood and birch as the base material. Aluminium is listed for the mechanism, with a mesh inspection hatch. Mesh at an inspection opening does not make the whole housing a wire-mesh trap. Record these features in separate lines instead of grouping everything under “wooden trap”.

The materials are product details, rather than a general promise of weather resistance, service life or permitted use. If care requirements, weight or opening dimensions are missing for your comparison, ask about the specific model. Exterior dimensions do not replace an interior or opening measurement you need.

Use a list to check supplied items and planning

25 ml lure is expressly listed with the marten trap. Do not transfer this accessory to other models. If selecting additional consumables, Spray and gel compared and Decoy egg or scent lure help with those separate product questions.

  • Save the model name and complete product page.
  • Record all available measurements with their units.
  • Ask specifically for missing exterior, interior or opening dimensions.
  • Measure storage space and transport openings separately.
  • Check off material, inspection opening and expressly listed extras.
  • Clarify planned use and local permissions with the responsible authority beforehand.

The German Federal Hunting Act refers to restrictions under state law. Buying a model does not answer whether its intended use is permitted.

Frequently asked questions

Are two 100 cm traps the same size?

Not necessarily. The marten and raccoon traps listed here differ in their other measurements.

Can length establish suitability for a species?

One housing length does not establish this. The particular version, specialist requirements and permitted use need clarification.

Does every model include lure?

25 ml is confirmed for the marten trap. That extra item is not transferred to the other models here.
